Who We Are
We are a specialty cut flower grower located in the Middle
Peninsula of Virginia's Chesapeake Bay region. Our goal is to
provide the finest cuts at a fair price to all of our customers.
Our membership in the Association of Specialty Cut Flower
Growers helps assure that we are part of the network of
professionals who specialize in growing the finest specialty cut
flowers.
We believe in sustainable agriculture and in growing for local
markets. We believe that the freshest flowers are best bought
locally. Locally bought flowers insure longer vase life for you,
the customer, because you are buying a freshly harvested crop.
In addition, you have the satisfaction of buying the most
economical product because the transportation costs of getting
from the farm to you are minimal. You are buying the flower
from a small, local farmer. You are not paying for the overhead
expenses of storage and transportation from remote locations!!
Duchess of Gloucester Flowers is now (2009) in its fourth year
of production. We started as a direct marketer only (retail sales
to customers at the Williamsburg Farmers' Market). We
expanded to the local floral trade in 2008..
To date we are a very small scale operation. This allows us to
hand-select flowers for our customers and to provide personal
service to them too. Marion Baker is the owner of the business
and relies on the expertise of a select group of specialists to
bring only the finest of products to our customers.
